What is Dozyme?
DNA origami is the nanoscale folding of DNA to create arbitrary two- and three-dimensional nanostructures. It can produce a desired shape accurately and many applications have been suggested including nano robots, drug delivery systems, enzyme immobilization.
It has also been reported that a "fastener" that immobilizes two DNA origami parts comes off when the "key" molecule RNA contacts the fastener. The key molecule RNA rejoint the other fastener and DNA origami can freely turn around. It is known that applicable key molecules are not limited to nucleic acids such as DNA and RNA, but proteins, small molecule compounds, and metal ions. Dozyme takes advantage of this structural change and designs DNA origami so that the enzyme activity turns “On” under certain conditions.
